Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you know the premiere for the reboot of “Cosmos” aired recently. It features astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson picking up where Carl Sagan left off. It’s also produced by Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane and Sagan’s widow, Ann Druyan.

If you haven’t seen it, it’s truly amazing, if not a bit humbling, as it traces the beginnings of the universe, starting with the big bang. It’s all presented as part of a “cosmic calendar”, where the big bang takes place January 1st, and our current point in time is represented as 11:59pm on December 31st.

In fact, we’ve been here so little time, all recorded human history takes place in the last 16 seconds of the last day of the cosmic calendar. Feeling insignificant yet?

This strip refers to one Fox affiliate in Oklahoma that “accidentally” interrupted the short segment on evolution with a news promo. See the video below.

Was it truly a technical error? This strip postulates another option.

I struggled with this strip. Would enough readers get the movie reference at the end? Even if they did, would it be funny? In the end, the idea still made me chuckle, so I decided to hit the submit button anyway. Let me know in the comments what you think, either about the Cosmos Fox mixup or the strip.
